From illness to stability

Two years without antiretroviral medication and medical care took their toll on the young boy, named Tung (not his real name, for privacy reasons). He tired easily, had difficulty breathing, and suffered from constant stomach pain. When Tung finally returned to the doctor, his health had deteriorated significantly. Pneumonia and tuberculosis were looming, but medication provided some relief.

However, Tung’s health problems were far from over. Chronic stomach pain, abnormal kidney function and a severe ear infection (otitis media) left him unable to hear. The situation became so serious that he was admitted to Mukdahan Hospital. Slowly, with treatment and care, his condition began to improve.

Steps forward
Throughout this ordeal, Siam-Care stood by Tung’s side. Our team ensured that he received consistent medical care and referred him to an ENT specialist. He used medicated ear drops for six months, but his hearing problems persisted. Siam-Care helped him articulate his symptoms clearly to the doctor, which eventually led to a disability certification process. In November of this year (2024), his persistence paid off: he was approved for a disability card. This milestone opened the door to essential support, including a living allowance (a modest allowance of 15 euros per month) from the local government.

Basic aid
In the meantime, Siam-Care provided basic necessities like food, clothing, and money for his frequent medical visits. We monitor Tung’s health and well-being and offer hope in the face of adversity. Thanks to supporters like you, this teenager now has the resources and support to rebuild his life. Your generosity transforms stories of struggle into stories of resilience. Together, we can continue to provide care to children like him so they can have a brighter future.
