We are very happy and proud to share wonderful news from Thailand: Siam-Care has received a Certificate of Honor in recognition of our work for children and youth. The award recognizes us as an “organization that promotes activities for children and youth”. The presentation took place in Nakhon Phanom on the occasion of Thailand’s National Youth Day in September 2026.
The recognition comes from the Department for Children and Youth (DCY), part of the Thai Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and was presented by the Director-General of the Department for Children and Youth. (text continues below the photo)
Recognition for years of work
This distinction means a great deal to Siam-Care. Since our founding in 1996, we have been working with vulnerable children, youth, and families in Thailand. What began as a response to the HIV/AIDS crisis has grown into a much broader organization that supports children and families facing poverty, difficult family situations, health issues, and limited opportunities.
Today, Siam-Care supports approximately 180 children through our sponsorship program, while our local teams also provide practical, social, and emotional support to many other families.
Our work includes, among other things, helping children go to school, providing school supplies and other necessities, visiting families at home, supporting access to healthcare, helping families improve their living conditions, and encouraging young people to develop their talents and build a more independent future.
But perhaps most importantly: our teams are there to listen, encourage, and support families when life is tough.
An encouragement to continue
We view this award not only as recognition of Siam-Care as an organization, but also as a token of appreciation for the people who make this work possible: our Thai staff and volunteers, our supporters and sponsors in the Netherlands and elsewhere, our partners, and of course the children and families themselves.
Much of our work takes place quietly, through home visits, conversations, support at schools, and practical assistance. The official recognition by the Thai authorities is therefore a special encouragement to continue doing what we have been doing for nearly 30 years.
We are grateful to the Ministry of Children and Youth and the Provincial Council for Children and Youth of Nakhon Phanom for this recognition. And we are especially grateful to everyone who has supported Siam-Care over the years. This award belongs to all of us.
Together, we can continue to change lives, family by family.
